Glued laminated timber beams are bridge’s main structure. They are made of impregnated, and dried raw material. The metal connectors for the beams are installed in factory of IKTK, so ensuring maximums precision and decreasing assembly time on the field. af the installment of the metal parts, the beams are pressure treated with C type creosote of the latest generation in autoclave, so providing additional protection of the bridge from environmental impacts.
The Bridge is located in Beitostølen (Norway) and is exposed to drastically harsh and unstable environmental conditions which is a serious challenge to the glued wooden structures. The total length of the bridge is 41m, width is 6 m, and volume of the curved glued wooden components is 124 m3.
The estimated lifespan of the bridge, following maintenance, is 100 years.
